The Saga of North

Finland is a country of thousands of clean lakes and wild forests, whose untouched wildernesses offer peaceful living conditions for wild animals.

Our unique nature has inspired us to develop mystical fables and magical stories throughout the ages. The ancient Finnish gods and spirit beings were mainly animals and creatures from the sky, water and forests. This fascinates me too and I wanted to paint my own visions of the secret connections between nature and supernatural beings.

Dreaming Adonis

Even the most masculine men dream and think in a spiritual way. Physical strength does not preclude the existence of honest uprightness and sincere behavior. Such men are the best of men.

Phenomenon

For me, skulls are symbols of the cycle of life. The lived life is behind us, but in some spiritual way it continues. The skull is like a vessel in which the brain and intelligence occupied its time and then moved on.

Inner Strength

The horse figure represents strength, intelligence and energy. Horsepower is physical strength, but also mental fortitude. This painting is about the inner strength that we all need from time to time.

Innocent

The faces and expressions of calves have always been particularly touching in my opinion. A sincere look combined with a sweet, soft essence. In its gentleness, this is one of my favorite subjects to paint.

“I draw influences for my art mainly from ancient history and mythology. Worn and patinated surfaces, walls, murals and frescoes have always fascinated me. Most of the subjects of my fine art are animal figures or human faces. Through these topics, I especially feel that I get in touch with my own feelings and topics that need to be worked on at any given time in my mental landscape.”

“Social interaction between people is essential. I find it interesting how and what we communicate to each other. Often our communication is unconscious and we often form opinions about other people or animals without realizing it. For example, the moment when we look into another person’s eyes for the first time is the most significant moment in creating an impression. It is difficult to change this impression afterwards. The gaze of the subject depicted in my work is often very captivating.”

Layered beauty

I start working on the piece by first creating a multi-layered and strongly structured surface on the canvas. After that, I decide what kind of motif to work on the surface of the field.

I paint with acrylic colors, because they dry quickly and allow a thick layer of paint to be applied on top of the previous one. The final surface of the work is a mixture of numerous layers of different colors and shades. And this is exactly the unique feature that makes my work recognizable.
